Men’s Premier Interclub Finish Top

On Saturday the Victoria Men’s Premier Interclub team finished top of the table after the 9 rounds of qualifying for the top 4 playoffs being held on 2 February, winning the ‘Minor Premiership’.

They went into the final day in a strong position and solidified their place further with 2 wins in Silverstream in the morning. The afternoon match was a big showdown against one of the other pre-season tournament favourites Stokes Valley. Our men won 2 out of 3 against them as well, winning the singles & fours, meaning they won the competition by one win over last years interclub playoff winners Johnsonville. It also leaves Stokes Valley needing 2 and a half wins in their last match to make the top 4.

Well done to Laurie Guy, Tim Toomey, Ben King, Alf De Munnik, Mark Burgess, James Fairhall, Nairn MacGibbon, Sid Roddick Lou Newman, and Ray Martin who have all played Premier Interclub. Tim, Ben, Alf, and Ray featured in all 9 rounds.

– Won 6 out of 9 games in singles (Laurie 4/7, Nairn 2/2)
– Pairs combo of Tim & Ben won 6 out of 9.
– The fours won 7, drew 1, lost 1.
