Congratulations to Leigh Griffin in getting to the semifinals of the New Zealand Open Singles in Auckland. Leigh came through a particularly tough part of the draw beating two automatic invites in Adele Greenfield (Canterbury) and last year’s pairs winner Jan Shirley (Canterbury) before going down in a tense game to Anne Bateman (Northland) 21-17.
And in breaking news this morning, both Leigh and Kirsten Griffin (pictured) have won their respective first round triples matches and will play again Wednesday in the round of 16. Kirsten is playing with Emma Le Lievre (skip) and Keitha Heta, and Leigh is teamed with Karen Hema (skip) and Tania Wrigley.
