The men’s club fours kicked off on Saturday with five fours teams battling it out to be in the top two of section play and get to the final.
Roy Gibb and his fours team made a hot start to the club fours as the only team with two wins after the first two rounds of qualifying. He came out on top of a tight tussle against Toomey with near-controversy at the end regarding the kitty length. Then he had a fast start vs Ruane to come through in that one. From the other rinks, it sounded like ‘Boom Boom’ was leading well off the front, with his name called out several times.
It was a beautiful day with little wind, but most found the green tricky to master.
The fours teams skipped by Ben King and Ray Martin both had one win from one, with a bye in their other game.
Two rounds are scheduled for Sunday, with play scheduled to kick-off at 9am, hopefully getting through two rounds before the afternoon forecast rain.
