Congratulations to Rich Corry and the rest of the Hutt Valley indoor bowls team for regaining the much sort after Paterson Trophy in Porrirua during the weekend. The Hutt Valley team won the 6-team zone 4 intercentre competition three years running from 2008-10 but had lost the trophy to North Wellington in 2011 and Horowhenua in 2012. The competition was again tight this year going down to the last of 15 rounds before Hutt Valley came out winners ahead of Upper Hutt by 6 points.
The team will now travel to Christchurch on September 6-8th for the Welch Trophy national intercentre finals which unfortunately for Rich, is also the same weekend as the PBA Finals in Invercargill. So a place is up for grabs for our other aspiring indoor bowlers…
