In an all-Wellington final, Laurie Guy beat Peter Ramsey (Wilton) in a PBA Singles Ranking Event at the Heretaunga Club in Hastings for his first PBA singles tournament win last weekend. Guy had not reached a PBA singles final before, going down at the semifinal stage of events in 2003, 2008, and earlier this year. However, he did win a pairs event in June to start a strong season.
Seasoned local pairing Mike Isaacson and Tony Terry (Hawke’s Bay) won their second ever PBA pairs tournament beating Wellington’s Lou Newman and Dale Rayner who lost a pairs final for the second time this season. Earlier in the day, Lou and Dale gained revenge on Laurie Guy and Richard Corry who had beaten them in the final of the first Ranking Pairs event at Queen’s Birthday Weekend.
