Well done Nina, Yvonne, Helen & Leigh!

Congratulations to Nina De Munnik, Yvonne Gibb, Helen King and Leigh Griffin reaching the final of the Wellington Open Fours this morning at the Naenae club. They went down to a very steady display by the home Naenae team skipped by Cath Jones 9-19.

This propelled Naenae and Victoria to the top in the early running for the Womens Club of the Year race.

The best placed Victoria team in the Mens event were last year winners Richard Corry, Chris Rintoul, Tim Toomey and Bradley Down who fell at the quarterfinal stage.

Well done Helen!

Well done to Helen King for coming runner-up in the Wellington Open Singles at the Hutt club on Sunday. Helen went down in a good final considering the blustery conditions 15-21 to Dale Rayner (Johnsonville). Helen’s second place puts Victoria at second place in the early standings for the Bowls Wellington Womens Club of the Year. Helen earlier had to account for daughter and mother Samantha (Kapiti Coast) then Leeane Sweeney (Wairarapa) in the quarterfinal and Semifinal.

The best of the Victoria men was Barry O’Brien who fought his way through to the quarterfinals before going down to eventual champion Adam Turner (Silverstream) 12-21. None of the three Victoria men who made the semifinals last year even qualified this season!

Well done Amber!

Congratulations to the Wellington Yr 1-5 Women on winning the WKWM Junior Rep fixture on Friday at Paraparaumu Beach. Wellington finished on 18 points, 2 ahead of 2nd placed Kapiti on 16 and well ahead of Manawatu and Wairarapa. Amber Down was the singles player for the victorious side and had 3 wins from her 3 matches.
