Congratulations to Alf De Munnik, Laurie Guy and Lou Newman who won the Wellington Open Triples at Wainuiomata yesterday. This was Laurie’s gold star for 5 Wellington titles, Lou now has 14 and Alf 3. They beat Kevin Wakefield’s Naenae side 22-12 in the final. The match was all square at 11-11 after 11 ends before the Victoria team picked up a maximum 6 to break the game open and coast home to the title.
This gives the Victoria men an amazing three out of four Wellington Open titles for the season and lifts Victoria back into the lead in our unofficial club of the year standings.
