Well done Rich!

After more than 30 years of trying in indoor and outdoor, and 5 runner-ups, Richard Corry finally won an Open Singles event on Sunday taking out the North Wellington Open Singles at Onepoto beating Denise Clarkson (Vogelmorn) in the final. Rich was runner-up in this event last year but went one better.

Bradley Down also qualified in an indoor Open Singles event for the first time going down in the quarterfinals.

Former Victoria stephen zino paritutumember Stephen Zino won a qualifier for the Scottish Singles in Professional Bowls Association action on Monday. Zino travelled to the Paritutu club in New Plymouth and looked stronger and stronger as the day got on to beat Taranaki’s Don Christensen in the final after starting the day by beating another former Victoria player Kevin Rice. Stephen will play in the PBA national finals in Dunedin in September. He has previously represented the NZ PBA at the Scottish Singles event in Perth, Scotland in 2013.

Bradley Down made an impact on the outdoor greens this season when he joined the club – now he is doing the same on the indoor mats. Joining up with Vogelmorn’s Denise Clarkson, Brad won the Hutt Valley Mixed Pairs title. This event has been resurrected as a qualifier for a national Mixed Pairs competition. Brad and Denise will now play in zone play-offs at the Hutt club on Saturday 2nd July.
