R.I.P Don!

VBC was saddened by the passing on of one of our life members Donald Scrimshaw recently in Waimea in the Nelson area. Donald was club treasurer from 1968-75 and won 6 club titles over the period 1966-81 including two fours titles with his son Neil. He also won the Wellington Easter Fours in 1975 and was made a life member in 1985. Neil currently plays for Lyall Bay.

Well done Kay & Leigh!

Congratulations to Kay Carr and Leigh Griffin winning the Wellington Easter 2-4-2 Pairs. The title came with a 14-10 win in the final over Tui Opai and Judy Howat (The Park, Kilbirnie) and followed up Kay and Leigh’s Champ of Champ Fours win last month. Kay achieved her 10th Wellington title adding a bar to her Gold star, and was Leigh’s 27th title.

Opai and Howat had earlier accounted for Sarah Taukamo and Helen King 22-21 in a gripping quarterfinal while Kay and Leigh beat clubmates Yvonne Gibb and Robyn Rintoul in the first round of post-section.

Well done Pennants team!

Congratulations to our Mens Pennants team who won the Division 4 Pennants final 5-1 over Naenae at Johnsonville recently. The side, ably managed by Ross Difford, were playing in an 8-man Division for the first time in many years and won the A game 31-15 and drew the B game 18-18 making it a comfortable 16 shot win. All 5 Divisions were won by the Wellington City teams over the Hutt Valley.
