Two games played on Day 1

A four hour rain delay between the first and second matches meant only the two rounds could be played on Day 1 of the 17th Speight’s Invitation 2-4-2 Pairs in Wellington.  There were many upsets in the heavy conditions and a lot of interest in the third round to be played on Sunday morning to decide who has a crack at the big money.

Three sections will be a straight final between the two favoured teams with the Goodwin/Le Lievre v Johnstone/Martin, Hodson/Pugh v Holmes/Glavas, and Boffa/Ashton v Hill/O’Brien combinations all unbeaten after two matches.

Favoured pairings Shannon McIlroy (Nelson) and Lou Newman (Victoria), Raika Gregory (Waikato) and Laurie Guy (Victoria), and Shayne Sincock (Canterbury) and Mike Carroll (Eastbourne) all struggled with two losses.

A full update of results is available on the Invitation 2-4-2 Pairs page.
