If you were wondering where Tim and Nicole Toomey (and mum MaryAnn) were this weekend, they were in action at the Burnside Bowling Club in Christchurch for the annual under 26 singles tournament organised by Bowls Canterbury. Tim won 5 of his 7 matches in section play but missed out on making the main event on shot differential. He dipped out of the plate in the quarterfinals on Saturday evening to Cameron Nairne (Manawatu). Nicole did not win a match in section play, despite some tight matches including a 15-21 loss to eventual runner-up Jimmy Pugh (Nelson), but did win her three knockout games to take out the Consolation 2 Final over Brittany Tyson (Canterbury) on Sunday.
