Well done Rich, Bazza & Jamie

Richard Corry and Jamie Coleman retained their Wilton Classic Fours title at the weekend, playing with Rich’s uncle Phil Dickison (Tauranga South) and super sub Barry O’Brien. Bazza was filling in for Raymond Martin who meanwhile reached the semifinals of the Wellington Champ of Champ Singles at Eastbourne.

Well done Helen, Lisa & Kay!

Congratulations to Helen King in the Regional Pathways singles, and Lisa White and Kay Carr for taking out the pairs at the Paraparaumu Beach club last week. The girls will be playing here in Wellington in the national club finals against the other zone winners. The womens singles and pairs were very similar competitions with all four teams going into the last round with a win a piece and in with a chance, and it came down to the wire for both.

Well done Lisa & Kay, Rhys & Rich!

It was another Victoria double act in the Wellington Open Pairs at Wainuiomata, with title wins in both the mens and womens competitions, both over last month’s Open Triples winners. Lisa White (2nd Wellington title) and Kay Carr (sixth title) beat Johnsonville’s Kaaren Guildford and Luis Hare, and Rhys Hakkens (1st title) and Richard Corry (2nd Wellington, and a couple of others around the place) knocked over Stokes Valley’s Clint Carroll and Blake Signal. Incredibly this was Blake’s first loss in six centre final appearances.

Nina De Munnik and Helen King also featured on the final day going down to Johnsonville in the semifinals.

Corner to Corner Round 10 & the Finale Saturday night

It’s your last chance to win a heat of the Grant’s Whiskey Corner to Corner competition this Saturday night after everyone has come back from playing in the Wellington Open Pairs. And stick around, as the Club Grand Final will be played straight afterward to decide our champion.

The winner will represent our club in the Wellington play-offs 6pm next Friday night at Wilton following the first day’s play in the Wilton Classic. And will receive a Grant’s Whiskey bowls bag!
